4th NZ National Snooker Title for Mark Canovan

NZ National Snooker Championship

Mark Canovan from Canterbury won his 4th NZ National Snooker Championship title at this years NZ National Snooker Championship.

With a field of 40 players it was the Cantabrian who was in dominant for from start to finish.

With last years champion Shannon Swain knock out in the quarters with a 4/3 result it open the door for Canovan to come through to the final.

On the other the side of the draw Bayden Jackson had a tougher draw to make it to the final for the 4th time also.

With the final reduced to the best of 11 Canovan opened up a 1 frame advantage from the get go and held that lead to the break at  3/2.

Canovan came out after the break and slotted in a nice 82 and on target for a century but got a kick on the last red. 4/2.

Frame 7 saw Jackson find some form to take the frame and stay with in 2 but that was it it from Jackson for the rest of the match as Canovan showed his dominance at the table over the next to frames and finally went on to win 6/3.

This was the first time Canovan got victory over Jackson in there head to head meetings.

For Jackson well derserved runner up as it is his 2nd time as runner and with 2 national titles to his name.

Canovan also recieved the high break trophy with a break of 98.

Canovan remains at NZ number 1 for another year.

Congraulations Mark Canovan.
